Biographical details;
My full name is Zenda Vecchio and I was born in South Australia 1948. After attending Marion High School, I studied law at Adelaide University for two years but did not complete the course, leaving to get married in 1969. After the failure of my marriage and when most of my children had grown up, I started writing again, something I had not done since a child. I had almost instant success with my short stories and in September 2002, Greater Glider Productions published my first novel for young adults Listen for the Nightingale.

Radio
The Plum Tree Read by Chas Eeles on 10th April 2005 on ‘Words and Music’ programme on National Radio.
As previously stated in 2002, Greater Glider published my YA novel, Listen for the Nightingale. Previous to that, I had two books published by Stephen Matthews of Ginninderra Press; Mavis, a novella, November 2000 and A Conversation with Emily and other stories, a short story collection, May 2001.
In August 2000 I was invited by the SA Writers Centre to read a selection of my stories at their Writers Caf.
In May/June 2003 I was granted a NSW Booranga Arts Fellowship at Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga and was writer-in – residence there from May 11th to June 7th and it was during that time that I wrote much of my adolescent fiction novel Ah! Bright Wings for which I am still seeking publication.
On September 10th 2005 my collection of short stories, Children at the Gate, also published by Ginninderra Press was launched at the S.A.Writers’ Centre.
In September 2006 I was asked to be one of three judges for the Salisbury Literary Competition as part of the annual Salisbury Writers Festival.
September 21st 2008 saw the launch of Tiger! Tiger!, again by Ginninderra Press a collection of short stories inspired by William Blake’s poem, The Tiger.
I am currently working on a novel based (loosely) on my own early life.
